Below is the schedule for online comic workshops where we will learn about creating memoir comics, centering experiences of incarceration.
The workshop cycle is 5 workshops.
Week 1: What Are Memoir Comics/ Creating a Narrative
Week 2: Drawing Your Comics: developing characters
Week 3: Drawing Your Comics: landscape
Week 4: Sketching Your Comics
Week 5: Inking Your Comics
Workshop Presentations
Workshop 1, Intro to Memoir and Creating a Narrative
Materials needed: pencil/pen, paper.
Workshop 2, Characters
Materials needed: pencil/pen, paper.
Workshop 3, Landscapes
Materials Needed: pencil/pen, paper.
Workshop 4: Thumbnails and Final Sketches
Materials Needed: pencil/pen, non-photo blue colored pencil (optional), paper, paper to use for final work.
Workshop 5: Inking and Text
Materials needed: paper, inking tool (pen, marker, brush, nib, brush pen), final paper.
